Subtitles
Here you will find information about
subtitles on DivX/XviD movies.
According to Cosmic readme files, starting from 2.0.3.0 firware,
subtitles on DivX/XviD movies are supported (the original statement: "SRT/SSA/SMI
divx subtitle support"). So we can expect that it will be possible to burn
DivX movie and text file on CD and watch presentation with subtitles. There
should be supported subtitles in three formats:
- SubRip (*.SRT)
- SubStation Alpha (*.SSA)
- Sami (*.SMI)
I made a lot of tests. Here are my results:
- The player is reading from CD text files with extensions *.srt, *.ssa,
*.smi.
- You can choose the subtitle during DivX playback using "Subtitle"
button on remote controller.
- The filename is not important, files are recognized only by extensions.
You can turn on any *.srt, *.ssa, *.smi file during playback of any DivX file.
They are changed sequentially.
- *.txt files are not supported.
- Although the player is reading *.srt, *.ssa, *.smi files, only subtitles
from *.srt files are displayed. When you choose *.ssa or *.smi text file,
the player says that subtitles are on, but doesn't display it.
If you want to watch DivX/XviD movies with subtitles, you will probably need to modify your text files. I recommend Subtitle Workshop - the powerful and free subtitle editor.
